Here
is one more feather in the already
overflowing cap of the great man.
Evergreen badshah of Hindi cinema
and youth icon of the millennium,
Amitabh Bachchan, has been chosen
for an honorary doctorate by the De
Montforte University in Leicester,
UK. He will be conferred the Doctorate
of Arts on July 19 this year for his
lifetime achievements in the field
of movies and entertainment.

After
receiving the honorary degree, he would
address his fans at the Walkers Stadium
at Filbert Way. The University attracts
a sizeable number of Indian students every
year and Leicester has a strong presence
of ethnic Indians. There are several movie
halls exclusively screening only Hindi films.
The local government has been encouraging
Indian production companies to arrive for
shooting and post-production work.

Keith
Vaz, MP of Leicester expressed delight
that Amitabh has been chosen for the
degree. He said that Bachchan was
a major inspiration for the current
generation about what one could achieve
by sheer hard work and professionalism.
His achievements in the field of movies
and entertainment are awe-inspiring.
Besides entertainment, Bachchan was
also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.
Hence, the multi-hued personality
of the great man is worth emulation.
