Krrish,
the sequel to the paranormal story, Koi
Mil gaya, has surely made its producers
laugh all the way to the bank. It has crossed
Rs. 100 crores in collections in the first
two weeks. It has also overtaken Fanaa,
which comes a close second with 90 crores.

The overseas collections from Krissh
are expected to net 20-25 crores.
Fanaa was made on a smaller budget
and had fewer prints, yet it reigned
during the opening weeks. However,
audiences have proved once again that
pure entertainment is what matters
in cinema as compared to gut-wrenching
drama and dose of patriotism. Krissh
has also scored because of savvy marketing
and co-branding partnerships. It has
tied up with Pantaloon Retail for
manufacture and sale of merchandise
like dolls, keychains, T-shirts and
school bags.

Besides,
FMCG majors, HLL and ITC have tied up for
soaps and apparel featuring the film’s
logo. Also, jewelry major, D’damas
would come out with a special line of fashion
jewelry titled, Commitment jewelry. All
these are expected to boost the bottomline
for the film.
