Mumtaz
might be known more for her glamourous roles,
but now, with the film Veerasamy, that sure
is going to change. |

After
a long break, Mumtaz is working with
her mentor, director Vijaya T. Rajender.
In the film, Rajender is said to play
the role of a ruffian, and Mumtaz
is his ladylove.
In fact, for one of the songs, which
is a koothu number, Mumtaz has even
lost ten kilos in order to give her
best performance! The specialty of
this song, titled Vanna Vanna Aadai,
is the fact that it has been shot
on seven different sets. |

T
Rajender however, not too comfortable with
the choreography, preferred to stick to
his facial expressions. Wise decision, we
think!
But here is one more aspect of the song
that is rather unusual and reminiscent of
the days of the Roman Empire. There is actually
a sequence where Mumtaz bathes in milk!
Sources from the film crew reveal that for
that scene, they had to use close to 1000
litres of milk, with art director Magi designing
sets worth 30 lakhs at AVM Studios for the
song.
Rajender, enthusiastic about his venture,
says, "The subject I am dealing with
in the film is a first-of-its-kind and Mumtaz
will prove to be a performing artiste in
my film, unlike her earlier roles where
she is just a glamour figure." Veerasamy
that is slated to release in August has
Meghna Naidu playing the role of a college
student as well. |
