RB
Chaudhary's fear factor! |

It
does not matter of you have produced close
to 60 films and have a history of never,
once visiting the shooting spot, or interfering
with the director's work. When it comes
to the safety of your own flesh and blood,
no amount of interference is too much! |

|
When
his son Jeeva was shooting for the
film Aran in Kashmir and parts of
Afghanistan (a first in Indian cinema),
RB Chaudhary was a nervous wreck!
Who wouldn't be? Both the locations
are famous for recent acts of terrorism.
RB Chaudhary woke up each morning,
scanned the papers completely to make
sure nothing untoward was happening
in either of the places and only then
heaved a sigh of relief. |
|
|
Chaudhary
called the unit everyday to make sure things
were fine. In fact, before the concluding
part of the shoot in Kashmir, he even paid
them a sudden visit to personally check
the shooting procedures for the film. |
|
On
his arrival to the spot, he saw close
to two-dozen men with machine guns,
and asked the production manager which
scene was being shot that required
such a large number of junior artistes.
The production manager's reply however
left him speechless! The manager revealed
to the veteran producer that they
were not junior artistes, but were
in fact, real army personnel with
original machine guns, who were deployed
for their security. They were not
part of any scene. |

RB
Chaudhary was amazed to learn this and was
happy to learn that this was a daily occurrence
and not just for that particular day.
After the shoot was complete, and the unit
returned to Chennai, RB Chaudhary thanked
the unit profusely for the safe return of
his son, and congratulated them on the wonderful
job. He also expressed his gratitude to
the director, Major Ravi, who is responsible
in bringing out the best from Jeeva.
