Yes,
we are back with more Imsai news! Censor
Board's latest regulation which required
a "No Objection" certificate from
the Animal Welfare Board for films shot
with animals in some or many scenes, has
certainly put many films which are about
to release in a quandary. Shankar's Imsai
Arasan is also one among them.

Readers will recall the drama that
ensued between the Censor Board
and the Animal Welfare Organisation
over the issue of the Censor certificate
for Imsai Arasan. Finding no way
out, Shankar finally approached
the court of the law to sort out
the issue. Apart from that, Shankar,
along with Actor Vadivelu and Director
Simbu Devan even met with the CM
Karunanidhi and explained the issue
to him. CM had promised them a quick
solution legally to the problem,
and now, true to his word, all problems
are finally solved, and the film's
issues, problems and controversies
have been erased.

Newly
elected Producers' Council President Ramanarayanan
said that the Central government has sent
some directives to the Censor Board regarding
the issue and has urged then to sort it
out immediately. As a result of this, many
films including Imsai Arasan and By2 will
see the light of the day finally. |

Meanwhile, it has been reported
that the Trisha – Jayam Ravi
starrer 'Something Something Unakkum
Enakkum' has also been affected
by this new regulation and the producers
have filed a case with the Chennai
High Court against the Censor Board.
The complaint states that the Censor
Board is refusing to give them a
certification without that much
needed 'No Objection' certificate
from the Animal Welfare Board. But,
the Animal Welfare board has declined
to issue such a certificate.

|
|
The court has, for the time being, ordered
the Welfare Board to issue notices to the
concerned parties and the case has been
adjourned till July 3. |
