In
a recent interview to a private television
channel, director K S Ravikumar was
heard discussing many interesting
anecdotes in his film career spanning
more than a decade. While he was conversing
about his recent successful film Varalaru
with Ajith, he had many fascinating
trivia up his sleeve which he was
only too willing to share with the
audience.
The story of Varalaru was initially written keeping
Kamal Hassan in mind and was narrated to him.
But some how, Tenali took over Varalaru and was
completed. Then Ravikumar moved on to super star
Rajnikanth and recounted the story. Incidentally,
talks about Jaggubai surfaced but unfortunately
it has to be dropped as the story had too many
shades of similarities with Badshah. Then Chandramukhi
happened for Rajni and the rest as they say is
history. But apparently Rajnikanth was so impressed
about the storyline of Varalaru that he expressed
his desire to do this subject at a later date.
Meanwhile Varalaru was completed with Ajith in
the lead and the film registered an emphatic victory
at the box office and proved a milestone in Ajith’s
career too. After witnessing Varalaru, super star
on a lighter vein has remarked that Ravikumar
should have waited for him to do Varalaru.
