Effigy
of Chief Minister burnt outside Vijaykanth's
residence

Officials
from the Income tax department conducted
a raid in the residence and allied
establishments of captain Vijaykanth.
This comes in the wake of a stay from
the court to demolish the marriage
hall owned by him. According to political
experts, this raid may prove to be
a significant one in the Tamil Nadu
political scenario.
Income
tax department had carried out their raid in captain's
residence at Chennai and Madurai. His rice mills
were also raided. The raid has not gone down well
with Vijaykanth's supporters. Angry fans and party
men burnt effigy of Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi
and were involved in stone pelting outside Vijaykanth's
residence in Saligramam in Chennai. Police had
to be brought in to bring the situation under
control.
Besides captain's house, raid is also being conducted
at the residence of actor Murali and Jeepiar who
is an eminent educationist and industrialist.
The educational institutions run by Jeppiar also
bore the brunt of the income tax authorities today.
Apart from this the offices of the DMDK at Udumalpet
were also ravaged by the officials.
