For
anyone who is a keen observer of Tamil
Nadu politics and Kollywood happenings,
the one question that is plaguing
their mind these days is – whether
captain’s marriage hall would
be razed down or not. Readers may
be aware that the court had assured
that the hall will not be
demolished
till the 26th of February 2007.
This marriage hall with a vast area of 7000 square
feet on the Hundred Feet Road houses the office
of his party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam
also. It has been stated that captain’s
marriage hall is in the way of a bridge that is
being planned by the ruling party. To accommodate
the construction of this bridge, a part of the
mandapam and the entire area of his party office
would have to be bulldozed.
When the list of buildings that could be a potential
hindrance to the construction of a grade separator
was released, Vijaykanth’s mandapam did
not figure in the list at all. It was understood
to be a last minute addition. Hence the court
has raised a valid question on this issue.
Vijaykanth has crossed a lot many hurdles to establish
himself in politics. Would he have an encore in
the marriage hall issue also? We will have to
wait and watch….
