Audio
release without the music director but with
all leading Directors
January
05, 2007
The
audio release of the movie Deepavali
was held today morning at Satyam theatres.
This function would have brought the
Tamil film world to a temporary halt
as all the leading directors were
seen at the Satyam theatres. The list
includes Balumahendra, Bhagyaraj,
Paarthiban, K.S.Ravikumar, Gautham
Menon, Cheran,
S.A.Chandrasekar, Saran, Durai, Perrarasu, SS
Stanley, Vasanthabalan, Simbudevan, Balaji Shakthivel,
R.K.Selvamani and Manobala.
The function which had Barathiraja releasing the
first copy and Shankar receiving it was not without
controversy. The music director of the movie Yuvan
Shankarraja was missing. It is said that the music
director happens to be the hero of any audio release
function. Already the rumor mills have started
to work. At least there should have been some
efforts from the organizers to explain why Yuvan
could not make it. Some even say the music director
was not invited to the function as it was a gathering
of all directors.
All
the directors present were given chance
to speak and each one introduced the ones
to follow them. Jeyam Raja said “I
am now speaking as a director who has given
three hits with Ravi and not as his brother.
I appreciate the work of Ravi in this movie
and thank director Ezhil for bringing the
best out of Ravi”. This speech of
his brother had Jayam Ravi choking but he
did control his emotions on stage.
Director Lingusamy who is the producer of
this movie said that he was to produce the
movie Kadhal, but due to some reason could
not. Lingusamy’s loss is Shankar’s
gain. He also said it was Balaji Sakthivel
(the director of Kadhal) who recommended
Ezhil’s Deepavali story.
Lingusamy too became emotional when he recalled
how his brother would financially support him
when he was trying to get into movies. “My
brother worked in a retail store for Rs750 to
support me and my family” said Lingusamy
with his eyes filled with tears.
In all, the function was organized well with all
leading directors being invited and all getting
to have a say. But the function would have been
even better had Yuvan graced the occasion or the
organizers making an effort to explain Yuvan’s
absence.
