Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, who is renowned
for his background score in movies,
is coming up with a new concept called
“The Music Messiah”. Based
on western musical terms, this album
falls under the category of soundtrack
and world music genre.
Agi Music, the promoters of the album
have planned the launch at Film Chamber,
Chennai on January 7, 2007 at 6:05 PM. Their earlier
venture was AR Rahman’s Varalaru, which
they licensed from Rahman’s KM Musiq. The
music of Varalaru was an international release
of Agi Music.
The album contains 10 tracks. The music itself
has its own story line and the listeners can easily
identify the beginning, the climax and the ending
of the album. Agi Music’s spokesperson when
speaking to Behindwoods correspondent, said “This
is something like Mozart’s Magic Flute which
contains a storyline accompanied by a musical
work. But, this album is abstract like modern
art and motivates the listener to interpret their
own meaning or the story which is hidden in this
musical work.”
Agi Music signed a publishing deal with Ilaiyaraaja
for his entire musical work in order to protect
the intellectual property rights of Ilaiyaraaja’s
music. “We believe we can educate the industry
not to use his music in serials, advertisement,
movies, remix versions and ring tones without
a proper license or approval from Ilaiyaraaja
or from us.”, adds company’s CEO,
Agilan Lechaman.
