Government yesterday went back on
ticket rates after the meeting of
Theatre owners association with Chief
Minister Dr.Karunanidhi. The ticket
price is now increased to maximum
of Rupees 95 and a minimum of Rs 10.
The earlier order from the Government
had tickets priced at Rs 50 for theatres
in city limits and Rs 15 for those
outside the city limits.
Under this order, Mayajaal a multiplex theatre
in the East Coast road was to sell tickets at
Rs 15 which is totally bizarre. Now after meeting
with the Theatre Owners association the Tamilnadu
Government have revised it much to the relief
of theatre owners and distributors who were worried
because they had sold the Pongal movies keeping
the old ticket rates in mind. Now that the ticket
rates are restored to the original price, a commoner
wonders why there was a slash earlier and then
a revision. We are awaiting the reaction from
the Producer's council who had initiated the earlier
drop in ticket price.
