Naan Kadavul has been swamped with controversies right from the start. From the change of cast to location and director, the movie was in news constantly. The latest buzz about Naan Kadavul is that the film has changed hands recently. When a despondent producer Thenappan was questioned on this, he said, "A sum of 3.5 crores has been spent on Naan Kadavul till date.

The film has crossed sixteen month mark including the time of commencement of the discussion about the story. I have paid 1.3 crores as interest component alone in this sixteen month period. Somebody has been spreading wrong news that the film has changed hands. Till date there has not been a single offer for the film for a measly one hundred rupees even. If someone is willing to pay the interest and the principal amount that I have spent on this film, I am willing to give it away". He also added that Arya has signed an agreement with him stating that he would act in one more film for him.
