Assistant director Manikandan was arrested on the charges of cheating and threatening a fellow actress Bindhiya. Bindhiya has acted in films doing small roles and have also featured in documentary movies. Recently she was seen in Gautham Menon's Vettaiyadu Villayadu as one of the murdered women.
Bindhiya was in love with Manikandan, an assistant director to Gautham. Manikandan has worked along Gautham in all four movies. Manikandan and Bindhiya had affair and as a result Bindhiya was pregnant. When Bindhiya forced Manikandan to marry her, he promised her to marry her only after she aborted their child. Believing this Bindhiya committed the crime of aborting the child and approached Manikandan.
But now Manikandan has refused to marry her. He said he would become a very successful director very soon and would marry a well to do girl. He also threatened Bindhiya if she disturbed him any further. On hearing this Bindhiya approached the all women police station in T-Nagar, Chennai. Now Manikandan is arrested and is under police custody. Sources suggest that Police is also enquiring on the abortion too. They are investigating whether Bindhiya committed self abortion or was their any doctor's hand in it.
