He
is in the film industry for 25 years
and has more than 300 movies to his
credit in Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi.
Graced by countless awards, his profile
can well be any other actor’s
envy. Yet, Mammooty is not in high
spirits this time of the year, especially
after the announcement of State awards
in the Malayalam film industry. |

However, he is diplomatic in his statement. “I
think this jury has not found my work deserving
despite the fact that I am a diligent actor for
the past 25 years. I am sure the other juries
will recognize the hard work I put in my movies
during 2006”, he says with a smile.
Mammooty is an ardent supporter of the left party
rule in Kerala, which is also quoted as one of
the reasons that he has not been selected for
the awards – to show that the actor has
not been favored by the ruling CPI (M). Besides,
the actor also heads the successful Malayalam
television channel Kairali TV.
Mammooty is busy these days for his prestigious
project Mission 90 days where he portrays the
officer who heads the team formed to nail down
the killers of Rajiv Gandhi. |
