Is the industry suffering from paucity of good
stories? Look at the Pongal and recent releases.
None of them have fared well. The reason—no
story content. The formula of songs, stunts, item-numbers,
triangular love—doesn’t seem to work
anymore. Trade analysts and financiers are worried
with this trend. To crack this, Director-cum-hero
Cheran has come out with his brainwave. He is
setting up a story bank. He would collect stories
from anyone who has a good story to tell and any
director or producer who wanted a good story can
approach him. If the story is accepted, the writer,
whoever it is, will be paid. Hope this formula
works well. And if it works, there will be new
blood in Tamil cinema.
