However,
director Samy feels differently. For he
has opined that his latest release Mirugam,
starring Aadhi and Padmapriya, is a lot
better than Ameer’s Paruthiveran.
It is well-known that Samy who would go
to any length to get his story made and
in the case of Mirugam, which deals with
the issue of AIDS, he has weaved an interesting
story around a village ruffian who contracts
the deadly virus. He said that though he
admired Paruthiveeran for its honesty, it
still thrived on commercial elements like
romance but Mirugam had a social message
and in that manner harder hitting compared
with Ameer’s Paruthiveeran. He even
justified the few violent scenes in the
movie were a necessity and were in keeping
with the behavior of the protagonist. Perhaps,
such comments are best left as ‘each
one to his own.’
