This reportedly
irked the devotees who frequent the temple.
Enquiries revealed that the film’s crew
had littered the premises with food packets
and paper plates. When the devotees questioned
the priest in this regard pat came a rude
reply. Only then did the devotees, much to
their displeasure, realized that it wasn’t
the temple priest but the artistes who were
a part of the crew. In fact, they had even
placed the altar (Homma Kundam) at a place
they found convenient to shoot, which further
aggravated the devotees who lodged a complaint
with the local councilor. When the councilor
arrived on the spot and asked the crew for
an explanation for having desecrated the 1000-year-old
temple, the crew, along with Vadivelu, was
left with no convincing answers and hence
was asked to vacate the premises immediately.
After much coaxing and cajoling, the devotees
permitted them to resume the shooting, which
went on till late night much to their displeasure
as the temple was open far beyond the scheduled
closure time of 9 pm, a practice that had
been followed for years. Guess erecting a
set for this purpose would have been a safer
alternative. |
