After Billa it's Sathya
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
December 14, 2007
Seems like this season of remakes is here to stay for a long time. It all started with Naan Avan Ilai, and Billa was the high point in this flurry of remakes. Banking on this trend are movies that carry titles of yesteryear flicks. Polladhavan tried it and emerged successful, but then the movie had a fantastic screenplay and director to back it.
Prithviraj

However, the director of Polladhavan had confessed that they had arrived on that title merely to generate curiosity.

Following this name-game, another director has also decided to bank on the title of a yesteryear hit. This time around it is director Vinayan who has directed movies like Arputha Theevu and En Mana Vaanil. He has titled his next film Sathya, which was the title of Kamal Haasan's 1980s hit. This film has a different story, though, and has Prithiviraj playing the title role and Priya Mani playing the heroine. Director Vinayan says that the story is about difference of opinion that arises between two cops, one honest and the other dishonest, which leads to the honest cop deciding to make his son a police officer. Prithiviraj plays the son and the movie revolves around the problems he encounters while trying to fulfill his father's desire. This is Vinayan's first shot at an action flick in Tamil.
