that his rise in stature to that of a director
is something that baffles him even today.
He recalled those days during the British Raj
when people belonging to his community were considered
felons and were looked down by the British. He
stated that he had ambitions to become a politician,
a writer, an orator and even an artist, however
he’s happy to register his views using cinema
as a medium. Bharathiraja also opined that Chandra's
roots are similar to his and he can identify with
her struggles as a writer.
