Actor Kamal Haasan has always been forthright
in his views on social issues. He had
come forward, at all times, to voice
his opinion as well as help a cause
when needed. This was so, even in the
recent AIDS awareness campaign telecast
on TV. The campaign was about sensitizing
the society on the issue of AIDS and
its outlook on persons affected by it. |

People from all walks of life have lauded the effort,
as it was the first campaign, in Tamil, by a celebrity,
aimed at eroding the social stigma associated with
the disease. The event also brought in hope to those
suffering from the disease. This act of Kamal has
impressed the United Nations, so much so that they
have roped in the actor as their ambassador for
AIDS campaign in Tamil Nadu. |
