Pudiya Varpugal directed by Bharathiraja
launched his assistant Bhagyaraj in
the role of a hero and rendered a new
dimension to the image of hero in Kollywood.
The village based theme of romance had
become a trendsetter of sorts which
was followed by many filmmakers later.
Now after thirty years, Pudiya Varpugal is getting
geared up to be remade with interesting twists
and turns. Bhagyaraj will be directing this film
with his son Shantanu doing his role in the new
venture and the film will be produced by Kalaipuli
S Thanu.
Before commencing his new film, Bhagyaraj visited
Bharathiraja along with son Shantanu to seek the
veteran’s blessings. Moved by Bhagyaraj’s
gesture, Bharathiraja exalted the father-son duo
and conveyed his best wishes for the new film
to be a grand success. He also wished a bright
future for Shantanu.
