Producers’
Council of Kollywood is meeting tomorrow
and if sources are to be believed
they would be discussing the Government’s
latest move on slashing the ticket
rates in theatres in addition to other
issues. It is expected that the council
will seek for a waiver in the salary
of actors and also return of some
percentage of money from them if they
had already been paid.
It
was also reported in the media that top league
actors have agreed to cut down on their price
but at the same time are hesitant to come forward
as the first one to do so. It appears that salary
reduction is the only way out and actors have
also realized that being obstinate in not slashing
their rates would only work to their disadvantage.
Meanwhile Ramanarayanan, president of Producers’
Council in a sound byte to media said that there
were requests to take measures to minimize the
production cost a long time ago. He also added,
“Actor’s and actresses’s salary
alone does not contribute to the increased production
costs. Producers should be cautious and calculative
to devise a perfect plan and execute it. They
should be totally aware of the complete requirements
and expenses incurred in producing a movie”.
According to him, if a movie is planned well and
then produced, the production expenses are sure
to come down.
