Paarthiban's
next movie Ammuvagiya Naan
is all set to release. Even before
the release, the movie is raising
a few eyebrows. As the title suggests
it's a heroine oriented movie. Then
what is the cause of concern? Read
on.
The script and the cast of the movie
were finalized way back except for
the heroine.
The
director, Padma magan, approached many leading
heroines. But they all refused his offer. Why
did they refuse an offer when a movie is heroine
centric which is very rare in Indian cinemas?
It's because the character (we believe Ammu)
is a prostitute. But didn't we have lead ladies
of Bollywood do these kinds of roles. But the
difference is - this character in Ammuvagiya
Naan gets involved in prostitution not for money
but for self pleasure. This made the lead ladies
to reject the offer. They would have visualized
what they would get from the women's organizations
and political parties if they had taken up this
role. Images of Kushboo and Suhasini Manirathnam
would have flashed in their minds.
So how did they get hold of a heroine? The director
continues, we were without heroine for more
than 2 months and finally met Bharathi who agreed
to do the role. Bharathi is making her debut
and another interesting fact is she speaks Tamil
fluently and hails from Coimbatore. The director
was all praise for Bharathi and assures that
she would soon climb the ladder of success.
The director signed off by saying this movie
would be in the caliber of Moondram Pirai (?).
Is there a forecast for some storm from political
and women's organization building up? Let's
wait till this movie gets released.
