This
is one movie that had been gathering
dust for a long time. One of the biggest
delays of 2006. But Thagappan Saami
has weathered the storm and has been
released throughout the state on Saturday.
The movie should have been out on
Friday (22nd Dec); already a huge
delay, but had to be postponed to
Saturday after actors Prashanth and
Karunaas, both starring in the movie
had held up the lab processing due
to non payment of their acting fees.
This
seems to be entirely justified. But the producer
of the movie, Tiruchi Gopalji was strapped for
cash and couldn’t pay the actors. After
approaching he producers’ council of Tamil
Nadu for help, the issue was sorted out. The Chennai
distribution rights of the movie were given to
Karunaas. Though it is not clear, some consensus
has been reached with Prashanth too. Thagappan
Saami is now running in small centers in the state,
the fate of the movie at the box office hasn’t
emerged yet.
