Recent
days have seen a rise in unfortunate
incidents – injuries to actors
in particular – occurring on
the sets of Tamil cinema. Asin hurt
her foot on the sets of Pokkiri recently.
Yesterday, Prakashraj was saved from
electrocution on the sets of Lee.
The shoots of Lee are being carried
out in the Seva Sadan School in Tambaram
locality. The scenes of Prakashraj
being shot by the villain were enacted.
For
this purpose – as is utilized all over for
these kinds of shots – Prakashraj’s
shirt has been equipped with a small size battery
and red ink which would be blown off from a distance
with the help of remote control when the shoot
out scene was performed. Owing to monsoon rains,
the ground where the shoots were canned was slushy.
When the remote control was switched on, water
collected in the ground conducted electricity
and passed into Prakashraj’s body.
Director Prabhu Solomon realized that Prakash
was in danger when the actor violently jerked
and shouted for help. The generator was immediately
shut down and Prakashraj was rescued. The actor
was in a state of shock for sometime and took
rest. If it were not for Prabhu Solomon, Prakash
Raj’s life would have been in jeopardy.
Would the crew adopt some safety techniques while
enacting such scenes to avoid such future incidents?
Lee suffered a setback when Sathyaraj curbed his
expenses and showed reluctance to pump in more
money for the project. However, the blockades
are cleared and shoots are progressing in and
around Chennai these days.
