2006- The year of the remake, a sequel
sets the box office on fire. Don made
an impact but could not sustain, the
industry declared it above average.
Umraao Jaan too made an impact, but
unfortunately it was on the producer’s
pocket, the industry had nothing to
say. Dhoom 2 came, pundits said that
the film lacked a plot and that it
had nothing different from the prequel
to offer. Maybe they did not notice
Hrithik Roshan.
The
movie, thanks to the exploits of the hunky actor
(with a new look and hair style) is creating records
wherever it has been released.
The opening day gave the producers a few scary
moments when word of mouth was going around that
Dhoom1 was the better movie. But as the week progressed
Hrithik Roshan’s magnetic charm kept the
cash registers ringing. This is not to say that
the others in the movie, Abhishek, Aishwarya and
Bipasha are just onlookers. But anyone who has
seen the movie doesn’t want to talk about
anything else but Hrithik. This promising actor
was waiting for this kind of an anti-hero role
which could lift him to the next level as an actor.
After all, nearly six years of playing the flawless
do-gooder on screen has not got him where he wants
to be; at the top.
If anything else about the movie has caught the
eye, then it has to be the powerful macho bikes
which the actors keep riding in every other scene.
Aishwarya Rai does what she has been expected
to, look good. The same goes with Bipasha Basu.
Finally, Abhishek fans need not feel let down.
The young actor must be applauded for agreeing
to the script which evidently gave more mileage
to Hrithik.
All in all, teamwork shines through and the one
man who deserves all the credit has to be Sanjay
Gandhvi. He has just given a new definition to
style and finesse. Indians no longer need to wait
for a Mission Impossible or a James Bond to see
style and substance. Its available right here-Made
In India.
