The movie has crossed more than 800 days, went on to become the longest running Tamil movie in history and the movie is still running in a Chennai theatre. If that's not all the dubbed Telugu version was also released and that too went on to become a major hit.

Seeing all this it is only natural that the movie be remade in Hindi. The movie is directed by South Indian director Priyadarshan, who is now the hottest director in Bollywood. And Priyadarshan has trusted his regular hero Akshay Kumar to don the role of a Psychiatrist which has been portrayed previously by Malayalam giant Mohanlal, Kannada star Vishnuvardhan and the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth.
