The movie released around 5 weeks back and sank
without a trace. It hardly made any impact at
the box office and did no good to Simran’s
comeback dreams. What is worse is that Simran
played an HIV patient in the movie. You might
ask what is the big issue in playing an HIV +ve
individual? The fact is that Simran was unaware
of the nature of the role that she was supposed
to be portraying.
She has reportedly claimed that the script narrated
to her was entirely different and she stopped
shooting for the movie the moment she realized
that what was being made was very different from
what she was told. The writer of the movie too
has threatened to move to court against the producer
of the movie. The writer has said that he had
intended the movie to be message oriented to create
awareness among the youth about HIV and its consequences.
But the producer reportedly chopped off the scenes
and dialogues that gave away the message before
releasing the movie.
Now how did the movie get completed if Simran
backed off from the project and how was the entire
issue kept under wraps until the movie released
and emphatically bombed at all release centres
is a question only an insider can answer. For
the moment the entire fiasco looks like a jigsaw
puzzle. Facing legal suites from two sides the
producer has to think on his toes. But one feels
he has already got his punishment; all the money
that he spent on the movie has gone down the drain.
Let’s hope Simran gets a better comeback
vehicle soon.
