According to Ameer he started Paruthiveeran
project when Sivakumar requested him for a story
to introduce his youngest son Karthi to the film
industry. Reportedly, he also introduced Gnanavel
as the producer of the movie. Everything was going
on smoothly until producer Gnanavel incurred losses,
as one of his production ventures, Sillunu Oru
Kadhal, with Surya and Jyothika in the lead roles
turned out to be a huge flop.
That was when Ameer took the Paruthiveeran’s
reins into his own hands for which the producer
also consented. It is to be noted that the censor
certificate was also released in Ameer’s
name. While the movie was in the final stages,
Ameer also could not find sources to fund the
project as a result it landed in Gnanvel’s
camp once again.
The trouble started when Gnanavel did not pay
the amount Ameer spent for the movie. Repeated
requests also did not heed results – even
the producers’ council’s intervention.
As a final resort he has moved the courts as Paruthiveeran’s
rights for Telugu and Kannada remake are being
negotiated. He has also sought a stay on television
rights and dubbing rights without his consent.
Justice Prabha Sridevan has ordered all those
mentioned in the petition to reply by 22nd August,
2007.
