The
veteran trendsetter of villainy in Tamil
films, Sathyaraj has come out in the open
about the success of negative roles for
women in films. Different roles especially
with shades of gray would definitely stand
out and earn fame for the artists. But unfortunately
heroines are reluctant to accept such roles. |

On
the sets of Adavadi which was earlier
named as ‘Reel No. 15’,
Sathyaraj was heard commenting on
the above subject. Radha is being
paired with him in this movie. The
storyline of the movie goes thus-
Sathyaraj acts as a rationalist film
director who crosses paths with powerful
people of society like the politicians
and industrialists through his movie.
To wipe Satyaraj clean, the opponent
gang uses an arrogant actress. How
Sathyaraj uses the actress to come
even with the enemy gang forms the
plot of the movie.

Commenting
on such negative roles, he feels that
Ramya Krishnan despite acting in so many
movies rose to starry heights only after
featuring as Nilambari in Padayappa. Same
is the case with Sangeetha in Uyire. These
characters have immense scope and potential
to prove ones talent and would surely
get accolades for the artist. But regrettably
actresses these days do not want to select
this path and want to tread the tested
path only.
