It
is not an exaggeration if someone says
that this is an era of television channels.
There are so many channels that a remote
control can get hold of and surf.
The latest entrant to this world is Makkal
TV, by Makkal Tholai Thodarpu Kuzhumam
which plans to go on air from 6th September.

Chief
Minister M Karunanidhi would inaugurate
the new channel at a function in Kamarajar
arangam.
Venu
Sanjeevi, Managing Director of Makkal
TV, speaking at a media conference,
told that Makkal TV would telecast
seven news bulletins of 30 minutes
each and an hour news bulletin with
discussion daily. He said that their
TV would not have anything to do with
cinema or cinema based programmes.
The accent would be on women, children
and agriculture.

|
|
Makkal
TV would have wholesome entertainment to
the viewers. Targetting the Tamil viewers,
the new channel with a definite purpose
would telecast more news in addition to
entertainment to the Tamil people living
across the globe. This channel is the seventh
Tamil satellite TV channel after Sun, Sun
News, Jaya, Raj, Win, and Tamizhan to broadcast
news bulletins. |
|
When
questioned about why one more Tamil channel,
Mr. Venu said that their survey had specified
that there is a need for a channel in
Tamil without films or film based content.
He also added that initially the channel
would be a free-to-air and talks are on
to make available the channel in the prime
band. Let us hope that this channel would
keep up to their commitment.
