Till
the result of recent election, entire Kollywood
appeared to be in Poes Garden. Now predictably,
their loyalties have changed to the new
Chief Minister Karunandii. |

We
had reported in our website last week
about the Tamil film fraternity hosting
a major event to express their gratitude
to the Tamil Nadu CM, Karunanidi.
The event is being organized by Tamil
Film Producer’s Council (TFPC)
and the Tamil Film Director’s
Council (TFDC) at Jawaharlal Nehru
Indoor Stadium in Chennai on September
23.
This
event is expected to bring together
Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan and music
directors Ilayaraja and AR Rahman.
The show is anticipated to have songs,
dances and skits. |
|
|
Highlight
of the function would be a song written
by Valli and Vairamuthu on the CM and the
music composed by Rahman and Ilayaraja.
All stars would waltz for this number. Considerations
are on for giving the title ‘Thalai
Sooriyan’ meaning ‘leading Sun’
to the Chief Minister. |
|
The
organizers feel that Kollywood breathes
a fresh lease of life, thanks to the
CM. He has waived entertainment taxes
for the films with Tamil titles, reduced
outdoor shooting rates. The legendary
Sivaji Ganesan’s statue was
installed in the beach road and a
grant of Rs 95 lakhs was given to
make the film Periyar. The CM was
responsible for the release of some
films, which were held up by the animal
welfare board. These reasons are more
than enough for the DMK faction of
Kollywood to have this felicitation.

Karunanidi’s
association with Tamil films dates
back to 1950s when he wrote the
dialogues for MGR and Sivaji Ganesan
which continues to be a rage even
now. Wait till September 23 to have
a taste of the solidarity of the
Tamil filmdom.
