After
making movie buffs wait for a long while,
Vallavan seems to be on it’s way to
theatres at last. The shooting for the film
had begun more than a year ago and the release
was expected way back. But the movie was
plagued by problems of dates, schedules
and budgets, which led to all this delay. |

|
The
movie is notably, Silambarasan’s
directorial debut. He had earlier
scripted the hit Manmadhan, which
many say, had been ghost directed
by him. Vallavan had generated a
lot of curiosity among filmgoers
even with its stills. The fact that
three heroines were part of the
cast had certainly generated a lot
of expectations and going by the
way Manmadhan was made, Vallavan
would be no exception.
The heroines in the movie are Sandhya,
Reema Sen and Nayantara.

Now
the scenes between Simbu and Nayantara
have already set the gossip mills
working overtime. Also the fact
that Simbu appears in three looks,
as part of his growing up process
also generated interest. His schoolboy
looks in the first part of the movie
are said to be very original. All
put together, the movie has a lot
to offer. On the music front, the
album scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja
is already a hit among the youth
and is sure to bring them to the
theatres.

On
the down side, all the hype generated around
the movie may end up working against it.
It has been a long time coming and the audiences
are sure to be very unforgiving even with
the slightest shortcoming. This movie will
have a lot at stake for Simbu’s career
whose last two films; Saravana and Thotti
Jaya had not done much at the box office.
All said and done, Vallavan is going to
be one of the big releases of Diwaali 2006.
