The
state assembly elections were certainly
a good indicator of the popularity that
first time MLA Vijayakanth enjoys in the
state. This seems to have pushed his standing
in the industry a bit higher. His films
are now selling pretty well in all areas.
Dharmapuri has reportedly been snapped up
by distributors for a very good price.

We
all know that a Vijayakanth movie
is quite a big draw in the rural
parts, especially Madurai. But rights
for other areas too seem to be in
demand. Spurred on by this newfound
mileage, producer Salem Chandrasekhar
has come forward and obtained Vijayakanth’s
dates for a new movie. Tentatively
titled Sabari, it will follow closely
on the heels of Dharmapuri.
Vijayakanth hasn’t had a big
hit for a long time. Whether his
M.L.A status changes any of that
remains to be seen. Incidentally,

Incidentally,
Sabari will be Vijayakanth’s 150th
movie. Suresh, of Gambeeram and Arasu fame
will be handling the story screenplay, dialogue
and direction. For the first time for a
Vijayakanth movie, they have planned a costly
photo session of Rs.20 lakhs and three gigantic
sets are being erected to serve the purpose.

Jyothirmayi
who had turned out quite well in Thalainagaram
will play one of the heroines. One more
heroine will be cast as per reports. Shooting
is all set to begin by next month. Meanwhile,
Captain’s Dharmapuri is expected to
hit the screens by this Deepavali.
