No
one can ever forget Arvind Samy for his
class and panache style of acting in movies
like, Dhalapathi, Roja and Bombay. He grabbed
the limelight with his debut performance
in Dhalapathi as Manirathnam’s invention
to the movie scene. |
|
|
Though the movie had the overwhelming
performance of two superstars Rajini
and Mammooty, Arvind’s subtle
acting did not fail to seize attention.
He became a heartthrob of girls
all over the nation overnight with
his Bombay and if that’s not
enough, his performance in movies
like Roja and Bombay were hailed
by the Times magazine generating
him international acclaim. But,
surprising he was not taken aback.

|
After
a few movies, he blissfully retired from
the scene and he is not to be seen in the
movies anymore. His recent stint was in
the movie ‘Alaipayudhey’, probably
because he could not turn Mani, his mentor
down. His ‘Sasanam’ is released
recently commercially, though the movie
was shot in 1998.

|
Samy
says he did not charge for the movie.
He states that if he had claimed
for his remuneration, it would have
exceeded the movie’s budget.
He further informs us that he had
a thing for simple movies and the
Mahendran magic attracted him towards
the movie.
Well, what is he upto these days?
Blissfully taking care of his business
as a HR solutions provider and he
considers that secondary, the first
being playing the part of a father
to his children. He turned down
invitations to be in the jury duty
at Delhi owing to his commitments
as father. He says his children
come first in his life.

If
not as an actor, does he have any plans
to become a director at least? Not really,
he casually says. He wants to concentrate
mainly on his kids and business. Cinema
does not seem to be in his priorities. Well,
Tamil cinema is in deprivation of a great
talent.
