Mammooty brought a new persona to the Malayalam
hero. His repertoire is impressive and his
versatility is unquestionable. A winner
of many National awards and innumerable
State awards, the man surely would have
nothing to complain about. Yet, like a true
artiste, there is a yearning passion in
him – an unfulfilled wish.

Years
ago, Mammooty wanted to become a
singer and writer! But destiny made
him the superstar of Malayalam films.
Although, he could not get behind
the mike, he has been wielding the
pen for several years now. He regularly
writes features columns in Malayalam
magazines.
A collection of his articles from
various publications has been published
by Current Books. The living legend
of Malayalam literature and Gnanpith
award winner, MT Vasudevan Nair
released the book by his close friend.
Noted writer CV Sriraman received
the first copy.

Titled Kazhchapadu, which loosely translates
to ‘chronicle of the sights’,
the articles are contemporary and universal
in appeal. They also reveal a sharp and
analytical mind. Not new given Mammooty’s
training as a lawyer.
OK, folks, so his book has been published.
When will we hear him sing? Well, only the
Malayalam music directors can make him do
that. Is anyone listening?
