According
to the recent quote of Superstar,
‘you are only as good as your
last film’ that is, your worth
at any time is decided by how well
or otherwise your last release performed
at the box office. A newly baptized
hero just struck a goldmine at the
theatres and is now the cynosure
of all eyes. Yes, we are talking
about none other than Imsai Arasan
Vadivelu. He was reigning supreme
as the undisputed king of comedy
in the Tamil film industry when
the offer to play a lead role came
his way. The rest, as they say,
is history. The movie turned out
to be a super hit.

|
“Nothing
succeeds like success” - this is true,
at least in the case of Vadivelu, who is
now the toast of tinsel town. Till now ‘he
was the other guy’ but today ‘he
is the guy’. That says a lot about
what this film has done to Vadivelu’s
career. |
|
Following
the success of the film, it is turning
out that many producers and directors
want to cast Vadivelu in the lead
role in their movies. They want
to sell the pancakes while they
are still hot. But Vadivelu has
just shown that his feet are still
firmly on the ground and that success
has not gone to his head. He has
reportedly turned down all offers
for lead roles, at least for now.
According to him, the role in Imsai
Arasan suited him in all aspects
and that is why he took it up. It
takes a really strong mind to turn
down offers that come with promises
of lots of fame and a pay packet
as heavy as 50 lakhs.

Evidently
Vadivelu has a wise head on his shoulders,
in spite of all the tomfoolery that he does
on screen. He knows what is good for him
and will stick to it. He is just happy to
keep people laughing. But, if a sequel to
Imsai Arasan were ever planned, all movie
lovers would like to see Vadivelu back as
the leading man. |
