Tamil
movies, not unlike the Tamil society itself,
are personality driven. Every generation
has its idol on silver screen. MGR in the
earlier part of last century and Rajinikanth
in the later part. Now, that superstardom
may not be attained yet. But if there is
one man who is within striking distance
of it – it’s Ajith. He has the
looks, the style, the charisma and the acting
repertoire. Added to that is the most important
factor – a fan base which is the most
loyal and devout in all of the film industry.

In
recent times, the supremely talented
actor has been under some pressure
to deliver. There have been some
conspiracy theories floating around.
While it is beyond the scope of
this author to explore if there
is a deep-rooted conspiracy against
the march of Ajith to the throne
of Kollywood, it can surely be said
that he has not been lucky.
But bad luck and conspiracies can
only delay the inevitable. Not totally
quell it. Aalwar, Ajith’s
latest movie just looks to be the
vehicle, which the ultimate star
will ride to find his rightful place
as the unquestioned leader of the
Tamil world.

The
soon to be released Aalwar has Ajith fans
all excited. The movie features the ultimate
star in a look that in reminiscent of his
earlier blockbuster, Vaali. The posters
that have adorned Chennai have his fans
exclaiming, “Idha, Idhai thaan naanga
edhirparthoem” |
|
Every
time an Ajith fan walks past these
posters, he/she cannot stop getting
all-high. The posters are so real
and so invigorating that many of
the fans think this movie will be
the one that catapults Ajith to
the next level. The pride is evident
on the fans when they go past this
poster. That Ajith looks like a
sculpted Greek god has only added
substance to the whole buzz. In
one of the posters, Ajith looks
angry and just about ready to explode
with the background showing the
actor in a thinking posture. Brain
and brawn – a perfect concoction.

The
other poster has the actor paying his obeisance
to the almighty. . A pious looking Ajith
who seems to seeking the blessings of the
Lord Ganesa to make his journey to superstardom,
smooth. This is sure to make even a person
who has never ever watched a movie in his
life to fall in love with this wonderful
actor. |

Keerthi
Chawla, who was a nondescript actress
until recently, turned lucky by
bagging a role in this film. She
has been signed up to play an important
role with Ajith in this movie. The
actress, who has also signed up
to play the heroine in Captain's
Dharmapuri, is set to play the role
of a medical student.
The movie has Ajith as the ward
boy in a hospital. Asin is the lead
female cast. Keerthi is expected
to have a meaty role and not a mere
glamour quotient.

|
|
The
friendship between Ajith and Keerthi will
form the crux of the movie. Playing a ‘compounder’
for the first time, Ajith will thrill us,
and put us through a joy ride and an emotional
roller coaster. |
|
Chella
the director of the movie is fully confident
about making the best use of Ajith. For
the sake of his fans and for his own sake,
let us hope that is true. |
