VV
and problems seem to be constant bedfellows.
Right from the beginning, the film
has been progressing only in fits
and starts. A couple of weeks ago,
the technicians had expressed discontent
over nonpayment of their dues. Despite
being completed and reaching the release
stage, the film has met with a fresh
obstacle now. A Tamil writer named,
Ariviyal Nambi alias Sundaram aged
51 has filed a petition in the Chennai
City Civil Court seeking stay of the
release. |

In
his plea, Nambi has stated that he had written
a novel titled Kanavu gramam in 1997, which
won a cash award of Rs. 10,000/- from the
Tamil Development Department of the State
government. Now, he says that the director
has lifted the story from his novel without
even consulting him or acknowledging his
contribution. He has requested that the
release be stayed until his demands are
met. Advocate Kapilan appeared on behalf
of the novelist and Justice Ethiraj heard
the case. He ordered that the producer,
director and hero should reply to the notice
sent to them and make a personal appearance.
The embattled team at VV is gearing up to
face the new salvo. |
