There is always a prize for popularity. Ask
Udit Narayan, who had a harrowing episode on
his recent visit to Patna. A woman calling herself,
Ranjana Narayan, stormed into the upmarket Maurya
Hotel and started protesting outside Udit’s
room claiming that he was his first wife. She
also said that she had photographs of her with
him. She also claimed that they were married
in 1984 and he had for long kept him in the
dark about his ‘second’ marriage
to Deepa. A posse of mediapersons thronged the
hotel but neither Ranjana was let in nor did
Udit make a statement. Asked why she chose to
go public now, she said that she had been patient
for so long just because he had threatened to
commit suicide. But her forbearance was wearing
thin and she had to get her rightful place.
She also chided him for chickening out when
facing the truth.
