Producers and filmmakers better watch out, 'cause
Big brother is watching. The Censor Board of
Tamil Nadu is planning to engage the services
of private detective agencies to ensure that
films screened in theatres are fit for public
viewing. Of late, there have been several instances
of violation of norms. As per rules, theatres
that screen films with an ‘A’ certificate
are supposed to put up a formal notice that
scenes of derogatory content have been cut from
the film. However, none of the theatres abide
by this rule. It has also been observed in some
cases that scenes with an overdose of violence
and explicit sexuality that have been banned
by the Censor Board have been retained to pull
in the crowds.
