There is always a proverbial question put to
famous personalities- if not this field, where
would you be? Many would answer a subject or
field closely related to their present one.
But, answers from cineastes would almost always
be a high-profile and totally unrelated subject.
This is a carefully crafted PR strategy to reinforce
the image of a brainy person and not just good-looking
hunk or dumb bimbo. So, you have actors who
say they would have become professors(ha..ha),
doctors, lawyers, social activists and so on.
The women almost always rattle doctor, lawyer,
chartered accountant, pilot(?) and more recently,
civil servants. The average age of actresses
has been falling and we now have teenagers who
are barely eligible to appear for their matriculation
exams. |

They carry about their books around exam time
and catch up with lessons during breaks in shooting.
We carried a story of the actresses who were busy
during this exam season. Now we have news that
Asin is eyeing the IAS. We know that she is a
successful actress and businesswoman. Not content
with her achievements, she is preparing for the
IAS exams. She knows the hard work and meticulous
preparation needed to crack the country’s
premier competitive exam to enter the administrative
machinery. Her travel kit consists of volumes
of preparatory material which she assiduously
studies during breaks. Already, unit hands are
whispering, “Oosh….Collectoramma Varanga”.
All the best young lady, the services will surely
welcome the addition of a glamorous face. |
