We are just receiving reports that India’s entry to the Oscars this year, Barfi! will be remade in Tamil. Sources are saying that a prominent young star will be reprising the role of Ranbir Kapoor. The original Hindi version was set in Darjeeling and told the story of a deaf and mute youth and the two women in his life.
Critics have hailed the film as a visual spectacle and some even called it one of the finest films ever in Indian history. Ranbir Kapoor won the hearts of the audience with his performance and it will be ear-marked as his best yet. We will have to see who will be chosen to shoulder the responsibility of living up to the magnificence of the original!
