The Chennai International Film Festival kick started yesterday with Dhansika lighting the traditional lamp and Vasantha Balan inaugurating the event at the Sri Devi Theatre in Chennai. Speaking at this event, Vasantha Balan said that when his first film Album flopped at the box office, he happened to see some of the international films screened at the first edition of CIFF.
After seeing the films, Vasantha Balan says that his approach towards cinema changed and he came out with Veyyil and Angadi Theru which were mega hits and critically acclaimed.
Writer S Rama Kirshnan and the coordinator of the eighth edition of CIFF Gloriana spoke during this event. Seventh Channel Manickam proposed the vote of thanks.
