A case filed against Kushboo under
Section 295 IPC was dismissed yesterday
by the High Court of Madras. The
petitioner Sivakumar had filed a
complaint that a still from Vallamai
Tharayo function showed the actress
wearing slippers while seated in
front the Hindu deities’ idols
had hurt the religious sentiments
of the Hindus.
When the case was taken up for hearing
yesterday, advocates on behalf of
Kushboo averred that Section 295
IPC can be attracted only when it
is a deliberate and malicious act,
intended to outrage religious feelings,
and insult the religion or religious
beliefs. The petitioner was neither
present in person nor was represented
by an advocate.
On the defendant’s averment,
the case was dismissed. |
