The Producers' Council is observing a one day strike today by calling off the shoots scheduled to be held in Chennai. Members are meeting at the Andhra Club at 10.00 AM to discuss on the actions to be initiated against Ameer, against whom a statement was released recently. Ameer, on the other hand, released a press statement accusing the Producers' Council of arm-twisting him to quit the position he holds in the Wage Committee formed by FEFSI recently to deal with the wage issues of FEFSI members.
"When, after much effort, now about 15 organizations are coming together to achieve consensus in the wage issue. Under these circumstances, Producers' Council is trying to ruin the efforts by launching a war against me. I am not one to backtrack on this issue," Ameer said in a strongly worded statement. FEFSI Secretary Siva stated that few shootings are happening as planned today and FEFSI is providing support. FEFSI members are planning to meet the labor commissioner later during the day, it is learnt.
