The Tamil Nadu Censor Board officials turned down Aaranya Kaandam for certification following immense violence in the film. Following this, the film’s producer SPB Charan and director Thyagarajan Kumararaja went on appeal and the officials advocated 53 cuts and awarded Aaranya Kaandam with an A certificate.
This had upset the producer and director as they feel that the certification is unfair especially after so many cuts. They have decided to appeal to the tribunal on this issue to find a good solution for their film.
The director rued that despite Aaranya Kaandam being awarded the Grand Jury Award for Best Film at the South Asian International Film Festival on October 30th, 2010, the film is facing problems at the Censor Board.
