For having worn casual wear, a crew neck tshirt, Karthi was denied permission into the Gymkhana club in Chennai. The club rules specify that entry is not allowed for members in casual wear that includes crew neck tshirts. Karthi was at the club to chair a meet with the Kanchipuram - Thiruvallur theatre owners.
Karthi's assistant brought in a new shirt while he waited in his car. He was allowed entry into the club only after he changed into a formal shirt.
