Nirzar Film Society, in collaboration with district administration and federation of film societies of India, recently held the 2nd International Film Festival from 4th to 10th February 2011 at Nagpur with an objective to focus on Tamil cinema and to project its talent and skill. The movies that were showcased in this festival were Mynaa, Kaadhal, Saroja, Then Merkku Paruva Kaatru, Naan Kadavul, Ilaignan and Kannaththil Muththamitaal.
Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai (M3V) directed by Krishnan Seshadri Gomatam was screened in world movies category as it had won several international awards in festivals around the world. The guests of honor representing each film were Krishnan Seshadri Gomatam, Anuja Iyer, Sampath, Bharath, Shibu Isaac, Suresh Krissna and PA.Vijay respectively in order of the events from Feb 4th to 9th
Kushboo was the guest of honor for the closing ceremony on Feb 10th.
The festival did not have any competition section in the feature films category. Hence, the following citations were awarded as a token of 'appreciation for participation'.
Best female lead - Anuja Iyer for her role in M3V
Best male lead – Bharath for Kaadhal
Character and charisma – Male - Sampath for Saroja and Goa
Character and charisma - Female - Kushboo in Ilaignan
Visionary Producer - Shibu Isaac for Thenmerkku Paruva Kaatru
Debut director - Krishnan Seshadri Gomatam (M3V)
Director with 'perseverance and passion for cinema' - Suresh Krissna for Ilaignan
Lyricist for motivational song –Thozha – Pa Vijay
Chief Minister Dr Karunanidhi for his 75th film and excellent writing skill
