The Norway Tamil Film Festival (NTFF), 2011, is to be held at Oslo from April 20 – 25. This is the second edition of this special event and it is the only one of its kind in the world. Dedicated solely to Tamil cinema, the aim of this festival is to showcase the burgeoning talent in the Tamil Film Industry which is on par with the best in the world, and to expand its reach to the non-Tamil speaking audience.
The festival will focus mainly on films with a strong script and cater to more than just commercial tastes. Offbeat films that have done the industry proud will be highlighted. Awards will be given to the best films in each category. The five day festival will have song and dance performances, special screenings, and interactive sessions with directors whose films have been nominated.
Heavyweights from the industry who will be attending the fest include Cheran, Vetrimaaran, director Vijay, Radha Mohan, Seenu Ramasamy (of Koodal Nagar and Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru fame) and Prabhu Solomon. These men are to be lauded for their work. Young filmmakers will also be given the chance to shine as their short films will be featured.
Tamil cinema will surely get the notice it deserves; thanks to the Norway Tamil Film Festival.
